Upcoming EventsAlumni Volunteer Opportunities:Why does LPS need YOUR help?! Our Alumni Association does not have annual fees like other organizations. Therefore we rely on fundraising activities to generate enough money to host events and activities. What Type of Fundraising Activities are currently benefiting the Alumni?A new line of clothing has been introduced during the 2009-2010 school year. With the help and support of your fellow Alumni these items were sold on October 6th of this year. This clothing will be available for purchase at the Holiday Fair and is also available to order through our online store. All proceeds will go toward supporting Alumni activities. (Special Thanks to Maura and Erin for their hard work during the early morning hours). What determines the price of the Alumni Events?Again, we do not charge dues therefore in order to host a tasteful event this year, it does cost money. This event is going to include appetizers, 4 entrée buffet dinner, side items and dessert. We have a highly recognized DJ from the Boston area appearing at the event to provide you with the best possible entertainment; so get ready to dance! Additionally, we are only hosting 1 Alumni Event this year rather than two. We encourage you to put aside $5.00 a week and save to purchase your ticket to celebrate LPS’s 40th Year “Back in Style” Reunion on May 1, 2010 at Café Escadrille in Burlington MA. It is guaranteed to be a night you will remember. LPS Holiday FairWe would like to extend our sincere gratitude for the 30 Alumni in attendance at the Holiday Fair that took place on December 4th. Your continued support and enthusiasm towards LPS and each other allows us to continue our traditions. We hope you all enjoyed dinner and some light shopping but most of all reconnecting with old friends. We would especially like to thank those of you who so willingly dedicated your time to volunteer at the LPS clothing booth. It is with your assistance that we were able to raise monies towards our next event in May. Special thanks to Maura Lawler for brining in donations and volunteering over 5 hours of her time. Thanks to Sarah Risko for working diligently and efficiently for 3.5 hours and Ken Hede for maximizing sales with his over ambitious salesman like personality! We also would like to give a special thanks to Chris Bates who generously donated a gift card from her employer which helped us to raise additional monies! Lastly thank you to Joanne Snell and Tracy Cogswell for helping us pack up and break down the booth at the end of the night! To those of you who commuted from places such as New Hampshire to celebrate the night with us, we are truly thankful for your everlasting support. It was a pleasure seeing each one of you again. The staff sincerely enjoyed seeing pictures of your families, old pictures of classmates, walking down memory lane, and hearing about all your hard work and accomplishments. We wish you all a happy and safe holiday season and new year. We look forward to seeing all of you on May 1st at Café Escadrille for our 40th year Back In Style Reunion…one you should not miss out on! Truly Grateful Alumni Back In Style ReunionMay 1, 2010We would like to thank the 125 LPS Alumni who were in attendance at the “Back In Style” 40th Alumni Reunion on May 1st at Café Escadrille in Burlington MA. It was a magical night, as students from our first graduating class to the class of 2009 gathered to remember the true essence of LPS; integrity, dedication and hard work. Alumni from four generations celebrated these founding principles which have helped each one of them excel in their own lives. The night was a true testament exemplifying the everlasting connection between the graduates of LPS and their Alma Mater. Alumni expressed their appreciation to the staff in attendance, who collectively had each served an average of 30 years to help shape the lives of hundreds of students. As Alumni verbalized their gratitude they presented each staff member with a gift to honor these committed professionals. Their presentation concluded with a standing ovation for Director and Founder of LPS, Nancy Rosoff, with “American Woman” playing for the finale. The night continued as every Alumnus and staff made their way to the dance floor hand and hand to remember in song “We are the World.” As the music played, everyone’s voices rose up to the heavens and it was clear that not only was LPS once a very special place where everyone felt secure, confident and accepted…after 40 years this was still true. The night evolved and dinner was served with a four course buffet, people ate, drank, and socialized with one another; reminiscing about times past and their journey to the present. The DJ wasted no time and kicked off with the Black Eye Peas and Lady GaGa; which kept the dance floor packed until well past 11:30pm. On May 1st, we celebrated the victory of the past, the everlasting dedication of the staff of LPS and the breathtaking accomplishments of the Alumni. As we move forward into the future we will have this night to serve as a reminder that over LPS’s 40 years in existence, one thing has remained the same; our commitment to serve every child in need, from all walks of life, so that they will have the opportunity to develop and blossom into the amazing individuals we now call Alumni.
